Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about TimeKit's free time and date tools. Can't find your answer? All tools include inline explanations below the calculator.

General

Yes. All five tools are free to use with no sign-up, no subscription, and no hidden charges. TimeKit is supported by unobtrusive display advertising, which keeps the tools free for everyone.

No. All calculations happen locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your date of birth, clock-in times, or any other input you enter is never sent to a server and is never stored anywhere outside your own device. The only data saved locally is your season/theme preference in the Age Calculator, which stays in your browser's local storage.

Yes. Every tool is fully responsive and works on any screen size โ€” phone, tablet, or desktop. There is no app to download. Just open the website in any mobile browser and the layout adjusts automatically to fit your screen.

Yes. This creates a shortcut that opens TimeKit full-screen, similar to a native app.

iPhone / iPad: Open the site in Safari โ†’ tap the Share button โ†’ choose "Add to Home Screen."

Android: Open the site in Chrome โ†’ tap the three-dot menu โ†’ choose "Add to Home Screen" or "Install App."

Yes โ€” and this is one of TimeKit's most useful features. Because all the logic runs locally in your browser using JavaScript, every tool works offline once the page has loaded. No data is fetched from a server to perform a calculation. This means you can use the Age Calculator on a plane, check a deadline in the underground, or calculate work hours in an area with no mobile signal. The only things that require a connection are loading the page for the very first time and fetching the display font from Google Fonts.

๐ŸŽ‚ Age Calculator

The calculator counts full years elapsed since your date of birth, then the remaining complete months, then the remaining days. It handles leap years and varying month lengths correctly โ€” February 29 birthdays are treated as February 28 in non-leap years, which is the convention used by most legal and government systems worldwide.

Yes. The "Calculate age at date" field defaults to today but accepts any date. You can find out how old you were on a specific historical date, or calculate how old you will be on a future date such as a graduation, retirement, or an important anniversary.

The sky gradient reflects two things: your current season and the time of day. If you allow location access, the tool detects your hemisphere and applies the matching season โ€” spring greens, summer sky blues, autumn ambers, or winter cool tones. The sky also shifts through the day, showing sunrise, daytime, sunset, and night colours based on your local hour. You can choose a season manually from the controls below the sky banner, and your preference is saved for future visits.

The heartbeat estimate is based on a resting heart rate of 70 beats per minute โ€” the midpoint of the normal adult resting range (60โ€“100 bpm). Your actual count depends on your individual resting rate, physical activity level, and how your rate has changed with age. Treat it as an interesting estimate rather than a medical figure.

Official situations where exact age (not just birth year) is required include: passport and visa applications, school and university admissions with age-cutoff dates, government job applications where upper age limits are calculated to a specific closing date, voter ID registration, senior citizen benefit and discount schemes, medical and insurance forms, and legal documents such as affidavits that require certified age. This calculator gives the precise figure without any manual counting.

๐Ÿ“… Date Difference Calculator

Calendar days counts every day between the two dates, including weekends and public holidays. Working days counts only Monday to Friday, skipping Saturdays and Sundays. The working days toggle is useful when calculating a business notice period, a contract delivery window, or an official processing timeline where only weekdays count.

Yes. The calculator accepts any combination of past and future dates. You can measure how long ago an event happened (for example, how many days since a contract started) or how many days remain until a future deadline. If the start date is after the end date, the result will show a negative number, indicating how far in the past the end date falls.

โณ Countdown Timer

Type your event name in the label field and pick the target date using the date picker. The live countdown starts automatically, showing days, hours, minutes, and seconds ticking in real time. Your custom event is saved locally so it reappears on your next visit.

When the tool detects an Indian locale (based on your browser's language setting), it shows one-click presets for major Indian festivals and events including Diwali, Holi, Eid, Christmas, New Year, Independence Day, and Republic Day. Dates are updated for the current year automatically. You can use any preset as a starting point and customise the label and date as needed.

๐ŸŒ Time Zone Converter

The converter uses your browser's built-in time zone data, which is kept current by your operating system. DST transitions are handled correctly for all 81 supported cities, including regions with non-standard DST dates such as the United States, the European Union, Australia, and Brazil. The result updates in real time as you change the input time, so you always see the correct offset for the date and time you choose.

The converter includes 81 cities spanning every inhabited time zone, from Honolulu (UTCโˆ’10) through to Auckland (UTC+13). The list covers major hubs across North America, South America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, Southeast Asia, East Asia, and the Pacific. Popular one-click presets include IST โ†” EST, GMT โ†” CET, and SGT โ†” AEST.

Yes. You can add multiple destination cities and the tool displays the equivalent time in all of them simultaneously. This is useful for scheduling meetings across several regions โ€” for example, finding a time slot that works for teams in Mumbai, London, and New York at the same time.

โฑ Work Hours Calculator

If your clock-out time is earlier than your clock-in time โ€” for example, starting at 10 PM and finishing at 6 AM โ€” the calculator treats it as a shift that crosses midnight and adds 24 hours to the clock-out time to compute the correct duration. No manual adjustment is needed.

You set your daily overtime threshold (for example, 8 hours). Any hours worked beyond that threshold on a given day are counted as overtime and shown separately in the results. The weekly pay total applies your standard rate to regular hours and your overtime rate (if you enter one) to overtime hours.

Yes. Enter your clock-in and clock-out times for each day of the week, subtract your break durations, and the calculator will show you the total hours worked per day and for the week. Compare the result against the hours on your timesheet to spot any discrepancies before submitting.
